CAGR = (ending value ÷ starting value)1/years − 1. An investment that grows from 10,000 to 20,000 in 5 years has a CAGR of 14.87% a year — the steady yearly rate that would produce the same result.

How to use the CAGR Calculator

  1. Enter the starting value and the ending value.
  2. Enter the number of years between them.
  3. Read the compound annual growth rate and the total growth.

Why CAGR instead of the average?

Growth that varies from year to year can't simply be averaged. CAGR gives one smoothed yearly rate that turns the starting value into the ending value — useful for comparing investments, business revenue or prices over different time periods.

Examples

Start → EndYearsCAGR
10,000 → 20,000514.87%
10,000 → 15,000314.47%

CAGR shows past growth; it doesn't predict the future and ignores deposits or withdrawals made during the period.
