Choose a video, enter the size you need (for example 25 MB) and click Compress video: the tool re-encodes it as an MP4 at or under that size, lowering the resolution only as much as needed to keep the picture clean. Everything runs in your browser — your video is never uploaded.

How to use the Compress Video

  1. Choose or drop your video (MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV).
  2. Enter the size you need in MB — for example your email or upload limit. Tick “Remove sound” to save more space.
  3. Click Compress video, wait for the progress bar, then click Download MP4.

What fits in 25 MB?

The longer the video, the fewer bits each second gets, so the tool picks a smaller frame to keep it sharp instead of blocky. For a 25 MB target with sound:

Video lengthVideo bitrateResolution (about)
1 minuteabout 3.0 Mbit/s720p
2 minutesabout 1.4 Mbit/s540p
3 minutesabout 0.9 Mbit/s480p
5 minutesabout 0.5 Mbit/s360p
10 minutesabout 0.2 Mbit/s240p

The resolution never goes above your original. 1 MB here means 1,000,000 bytes, so the result also passes upload limits that count 1 MB as 1,048,576 bytes.

Tips for a sharper result

  • Trim the video first — a shorter clip gets more quality per second.
  • Remove the sound if you don't need it; it frees up space for the picture.
  • Screen recordings and talking heads compress better than fast action or confetti.
  • If it can't fit, the tool tells you the smallest size that still looks watchable.

Frequently asked questions

Is my video uploaded anywhere?

No. The video is processed inside your browser and never leaves your device, so it is safe for private videos.

What format do I get?

An MP4 file with H.264 video and AAC sound where your browser supports them — the most widely playable combination, accepted by almost every website and app.

Why is the resolution lower than my original?

At a small file size there isn’t enough data for every pixel of a large frame, and the picture would turn blocky. A smaller frame at the same size looks sharper. Trim the video or choose a larger target to keep more resolution.

Why does it take a while?

The video is re-encoded on your own device, using its hardware video encoder where available. Long, 4K or high-frame-rate videos take longer, especially on phones. The progress bar shows how far it has got, and you can cancel at any time.

Which browsers work?

Recent versions of Chrome and Edge work best, on computers and Android phones. Recent Safari and Firefox work in most cases. If your browser can’t process video, the tool tells you instead of failing silently.
