What is an AVIF file?
AVIF (AV1 Image File Format) is a modern image format released in 2019 by the Alliance for Open Media. It makes photos much smaller than JPG at the same quality, so more and more websites use it. The downside: many photo editors, older apps and upload forms still don't accept AVIF files.
