How to use the Instagram Image Resizer

  1. Choose the Instagram size: portrait, square, story/reel or landscape.
  2. Upload your photo, then drag and zoom to frame it.
  3. Download the 1080 px wide JPG and post it.

Instagram displays images 1080 pixels wide. Use 1080 × 1350 (4:5) for portrait posts, 1080 × 1080 (1:1) for square posts, 1080 × 1920 (9:16) for stories and reels, and 1080 × 566 (1.91:1) for landscape posts.

Instagram image sizes

FormatSize (px)Ratio
Portrait post1080 × 13504:5
Square post1080 × 10801:1
Story / Reel1080 × 19209:16
Landscape post1080 × 5661.91:1

Which size is best?

Portrait (4:5) takes up the most space in the feed, so it usually gets the most attention. For stories and reels, keep text and faces away from the top and bottom 250 px, where Instagram shows the profile name and buttons.

Frequently asked questions

Is my photo uploaded anywhere?

No. Your photo is cropped and saved inside your browser and never leaves your device.

Why does Instagram crop my photo?

Instagram only allows ratios between 4:5 (portrait) and 1.91:1 (landscape) in the feed. Images outside that range are cropped automatically — cropping here first lets you choose what stays in.
